Aluminum 5083 forgings contain 94.3-97.3% Al, 4.0-4.9% Mg, 0.4-1.0% Mn, with smaller amounts of Chromium (0.05-0.25%), and trace other elements, which include Silicon 0.4%, Copper 0.1%, and Zinc 0.25%. The aluminum alloy exhibits very good corrosion resistance, particularly for marine applications. Its mechanical properties are tensile strength 290 MPa, yield strength 230 MPa, and an elongation between 10 and 15%. It also has high fatigue strength and good weldability; hence suitable for applications in shipbuilding, pressure vessels, or other high-stress environment requiring durability with resistance to cracking.

The forging of Aluminum 5083 enhances its corrosion resistance by refining its grain structure, improving its overall strength and resistance to saltwater corrosion, particularly in marine environments.
Aluminum 5083 offers high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, good weldability, and formability, making it ideal for custom forgings in marine, aerospace, and other demanding applications.
Aluminum 5083 offers excellent workability, allowing for easy forging. Its high strength, good corrosion resistance, and moderate formability make it ideal for complex shapes while maintaining durability and structural integrity.
5083 aluminum forgings are widely used in industries requiring high strength, corrosion resistance, and excellent weldability. Marine applications exploit their seawater corrosion resistance, which is essential in shipbuilding and offshore structures. Due to their lightweight properties, they are also used in the aerospace industry for aircraft components such as fuselages and wing structures. Aluminum 5083 forgings are available in transportation, automotive, and pressure vessels, giving them a ruggedness in difficult conditions. The low-temperature resistant alloy also finds applications in cryogenic use, further boosting its suitability in a variety of fields.
